The prior two days have been of recovery and reflection.

The prior two mornings I have spent considerable time in the square in which you finish the Camino. It is quite a different experience mid morning than 9 at night. Hundreds of pilgrims complete their trek of varying distances every hour.

Surprise!

i finished the Camino de Santiago yesterday, July 1st.  I walked into Santiago shortly after 9pm.   I hiked 42.4 miles yesterday, officially, but added close to 2 additional miles because of two wrong turns.

I finished in the rain. And yes, it was really just after 9pm. Daylight extends until just after 10pm in Spain.

Two days. Triacastela to Palas de Rei

I started yesterday in Triacastela. The plan was to hike only 11.5 miles to Sarria. I started out the day feeling pretty good. Nothing terribly sore for a change. The hiking was typical of the Galicia region. Many small villages with farms and cattle ranches fill the vast rolling countryside. The cattle here are seemingly all light-colored. Blonde with light eyes it seems. Very beautiful.

Tony and Molli strolled into O’Cebreiro yesterday afternoon. They had put down a 23 mile day. Understandably the elevation gain had taken its toll. We were all pretty whipped. The three of us and Michael from Ireland had dinner together. It was good to catch up.
